Welcome to the “Adult Volunteer Recruitment Resource Kit”. The purpose of this kit is
to provide methods and tools to assist any scouting unit in recruiting parents or other
adults into leadership or coordinator roles within the unit. The resource kit contains
the following tools:

-- Recruting adults.pps – This is a PowerPoint presentation that is intended to help teach unit
leaders how to properly recruit other adult volunteers. This presentation can be given
at District Roundtables, POW WOW’s or other training opportunities. The audience of this
presentation is current unit leaders who are actively looking to recruit additional
volunteers.

-- SKIT - How NOT To Recruit Adult Volunteers.doc - This is a skit that shows the wrong
way to go about recruiting adult voluteers. It uses some humor to show bad recruiting
techniques. At the end of the skit is an assessment of the recruiting techniques used by
the scout leader in the skit. This skit can be presented as a training aid with the
presentation above on the proper way to recruit adult volunteers.

proper way to go about recruiting adult voluteers. At the end of the skit is an assessment
of the recruiting techniques used by the scout leader in the skit. This skit can be
presented as a training aid with the presentation above on the proper way to recruit adult
volunteers.

-- Why volunteer.pps - This is a Powerpoint presentation that can be presented to parents
and other adults as a way to help recruit them into active leadership or coordinator roles
within your unit. The Powerpoint presentation is automatic in that once started, it will
advance through all the slides. This presentation would be good for early in the scouting
year after new families have joined your unit.

-- Scouting Volunteers Pamphlet.pdf - This is a color pamphlet that can be used to help
recruit volunteers to your unit. The audience of the pamphlet is parents or other adults
that you would like to recruit as volunteers. The pamphlet stresses the benefits that
volunteering can provide and why it is important to have many adult volunteers involved at
the unit level.
