"ADULT VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT RESOURCE KIT"

Welcome to the “Adult Volunteer Recruitment Resource Kit”. The purpose of this kit is to provide methods and tools to assist any scouting unit in recruiting parents or other adults into leadership or coordinator roles within the unit. The resource kit contains the following tools:

-- Recruting adults.pps – This is a PowerPoint presentation that is intended to help teach unit leaders how to properly recruit other adult volunteers. This presentation can be given at District Roundtables, POW WOW’s or other training opportunities. The audience of this presentation is current unit leaders who are actively looking to recruit additional volunteers.

-- SKIT - How NOT To Recruit Adult Volunteers.doc - This is a skit that shows the wrong way to go about recruiting adult voluteers. It uses some humor to show bad recruiting techniques. At the end of the skit is an assessment of the recruiting techniques used by the scout leader in the skit. This skit can be presented as a training aid with the presentation above on the proper way to recruit adult volunteers.

-- SKIT - How To Properly Recruit Adult Volunteers.doc - This is a skit that shows the proper way to go about recruiting adult voluteers. -- Why volunteer.pps - This is a Powerpoint presentation that can be presented to parents and other adults as a way to help recruit them into active leadership or coordinator roles within your unit. The Powerpoint presentation is automatic in that once started, it will advance through all the slides. This presentation would be good for early in the scouting year after new families have joined your unit.

-- Scouting Volunteers Pamphlet.pdf - This is a color pamphlet that can be used to help recruit volunteers to your unit. The audience of the pamphlet is parents or other adults that you would like to recruit as volunteers. The pamphlet stresses the benefits that volunteering can provide and why it is important to have many adult volunteers involved at the unit level.

-- Project Description.doc - This document describes the project, the objectives and the problem statements, and gives the best practices to date to use for successfully recruiting adult volunteers.
